Kroger Chewy Sweet & Salty Peanut Caramel: $1.99/Box of 6

krogersweetsalty_pnutcaramel-3No amount of bandaids could fix the Biba’s booboos the first (and final) time that we ate there last month. Once upon a time, there was a Biba’s down the street from our house, and we would go to this little franchised Italian restaurant at lunch and abuse their complimentary garlic rolls, and then order side salads with a side of meatballs. The meatballs were the size of baseballs and drenched in enough marinara to continue sopping up the free shimmering, greasy knobby garlic parmesan starch bombs, all while nibbling daintily at your salad, inwardly pumping your fist “YESSSS, I ate something green.”

A more recent visit to a different Biba’s was horrifyingly and laughably bad … read about the ridiculous experience here. Thankfully upon departing the more than disappointing meal, I found a Kroger Sweet & Salty Peanut Cashew & Caramel bar wedged between an old CD (Louise will never know what these are other than sparkly arts and craft Christmas ornaments), a first aid kit (which couldn’t repair any of Biba’s booboos) and a broken pair of sunglasses in my car console.

Kroger’s Sweet & Salty bars accomplish the task of providing a nice balance of caramel with nut, and I wasn’t at all surprised when Louise devoured it in mere seconds after we’d left Biba’s. While I would’ve preferred that she’d eaten the garlic broccoli pizza that I’d ordered her (fine, I’m selfish and wanted to try it too), I couldn’t sit by and watch her make hungry sad eyes. Louise > Generic Store Granola > Italian Restaurant Franchise.  5/5
