Nature Valley Soft-Baked Oatmeal Squares Peanut Butter: Kroger/Box of 6/$1.99

There is something seductively satisfying about curling your finger through a jar of peanut butter and licking it. Smearing a knife of it onto bread, measuring it into a cookie or stir-fry recipe, or eating it in jellybean form, none of these give that sticky tickle the same way that sneaking a taste out of the jar does. My friend from high school, and several years my roommate in college, Stacie, used to do just that, except her jar of choice was marshmallow fluff. I thought myself quite the creative chef one year making a batch of Rice Krispie treats using a combination of both peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. The color was like baby dookie and my ill-thought decision to add mini M&M’s was a poor choice b/c their colorful shells cracked in the heat and left rainbow slug trails through the brown.

Nature Valley Soft-baked Oatmeal Squares Peanut Butter is like dragging my finger through a jar of peanut butter except instead of a finger, I have a giant baseball stadium-sized foam finger. I’m not sure what team I’m rah’ing for as I don’t really follow sports, so let’s just say it’s the Springfield Isotopes. The peanut butter is good, but the vessel on which it’s approaching my mouth isn’t. The bar’s texture is crumbly and styrofoamy. I think now what I’d rather do is ninja a fun-size Rice Krispie treat from the school lunch stash of Joanna’s and spread some peanut butter on it. And ahh junk, I just realized that my main picture was from a Cinnamon Brown Sugar square and not a Peanut Butter one. 2/5
